The method and its origins
Modern medicine, as taught at universities, tries to stay as free as possible from humanistic ideas. It essentially describes the physical body as a machine. A machine is repaired when it breaks down, or parts are replaced.
Dr. Klinghardt, however, realized during his first years of practice at his pain clinic in Santa Fe:
- Almost all medical diagnoses are not causal, but merely descriptive.
- The rigid separation between psyche and physical body (soma) does not make sense.
It was this lack of focus on the cause of illness and the separation of what he believed belonged together that led Dr. Klinghardt to search for supportive ways to increase well-being.
"I sensed relatively early on that improvement requires a synergistic approach with multiple methods applied simultaneously. That it is usually not enough to use only homeopathy or only acupuncture, because that can take forever to promote a patient's well-being.
But if you correctly apply homeopathy, acupuncture, psychotherapy, and three or four other methods simultaneously, all of which are naturally gentle, then it can go faster and, in my experience, has a higher chance of success."

The emergence of ANK
His reflections ultimately led to the system he developed, Neurobiology according to Dr. Klinghardt®. This concept is based on three interlocking diagnostic and therapeutic practices:
The basis of this work is the Autonomous Response Test (ART). It begins with kinesiological muscle testing to observe how the body reacts to certain stimuli. This can reveal clues to energetic imbalances or stressful issues. This method serves as a complementary holistic assessment, not a medical diagnosis.
“Through this type of testing, we can use the body as a clue. ”
